This high-quality chicken coop is a great way to get started in keeping your own chickens! This coop works great for chickens, ducks or other poultry. This style of coop is big enough to be a true coop, but small enough to make it portable, which allows you to move the chickens around your landscape. This is beneficial because it allows them to continuously forage in new areas, the ground around the coop will not be worn down to the dirt, and you can gradually spread beneficial "fertilizer" on the ground simply by changing the coop's location. This coop is great for those who want to keep more than just a few chickens. Since it can hold 6-8 full sized hens, you will have enough eggs to share with freinds and family, or sell some to cover your expenses. This coop is made of high quality kiln dried and planed fir wood. It is treated with a non-toxic stain to protect it from the elements. The coop is already partially assembled when you recieve it, so final assembly takes only a few minutes. It is built into large panels that are easy to connect together. Each box comes with an assembly drawing. Cleaning this coop is simple and easy. You simply slide out the metal lined droppings tray, and dump in your desired location. The droppings are great for compost! The coop is designed with easy to operate hinged doors with latches (see photos). They give you full access to the entire coop for cleaning, collecting eggs, feeding, etc. There is one large sliding door above the ramp, one large hinged access door on the back, one sliding vent door at the top, and the top of the two nesting boxes also have hinges and latches. Kit had a few problems I would say it was:
80% Kit
20% MacGyver (some alterations had to be made for fit and finish)
and one nut short of a complete kit.
That said it seems like a very nice coop with the possible exception of the legs. They seem like they maybe susceptible to rot and other ground contact damage. I am either going to back them up with short pieces of treated 4X4s with metal caps on feet or simply set the legs down inside single hole construction block on each corner.
